Education

Over the past few years, it seems like our public schools have been under attack. Legislation such as HB 331 and HB 234 stigmatize local public schools as “less than”, creating socioeconomic segregation in our communities. Having worked in public schools my whole life as both a professional counselor, as well as president of my kid’s PTA, I know first hand just how hard teachers work, with the little resources they have. There is no “one size fits all” teaching method for our children, which is why I support our public education system. The teachers we entrust our future generations with should not be living on food stamps, which is why I support not only raising teacher salaries, but also communicating to teachers that they are both appreciated and respected within our communities, a message not enough educators receive.
